MEETING WITH ABRAHAM -- REMEMBER YOUR QUESTION
AUGUST 1, 1999
WOODS CROSS GROUP
I am ABRAHAM. Greetings. What a beautiful and progressive discussion this evening. The discussion served in so many ways. The basic truths that were brought forth were indeed serving the individuals as well as the whole of the group. You can measure the progress of your discussions with the amount of service you had opportunity to provide, and the peaceful feelings that are present when you have felt served.
Spiritual understandings are made more comprehensive when the question, "How does this serve?" is asked. In ministering to your fellows using your inner-knowingness you can check the levels of ego involved when asking yourself this question, "How am I serving?"
You perhaps feel like a child learning to ride a bike on first using your morontia senses. There is apprehension, little confidence, and some fear. Therein this insecurity of using the morontia senses you build the muscles of trust and faith. For your mortal side however there is always these useful questions, "How does the serve? How am I serving? How am I served by this?" In tending to mortal pressures these questions tend to bring you to an intellectual level as well as a spiritual level.
In the asking there is a statement brought forth that says, "I choose to do the will of my Father." Should the pressures of mortal living lead you to feel disconnection, a questioning and humbled mind helps your feelings of being lost to understanding the reality of--you may feel lost, but you are not. The feeling is not in authority over spiritual reality.
There are lines between those burdening pressures and daily responsibilities. It is easy to mistake one for the other. If you feel confused or clouded in thoughts, unrestful, then certainly is that unnecessary pressure. Should you feel hurried but trustful and energetic, secure, then this is everyday responsibility in which Father assist you with anyway.
When pressures are upon you ask, "How does this pressure serve anybody?" Should there be no answer or a clouded, confusing answer, then the Masters techniques would need to be applied. Should there be an intelligent, practical, spiritual sounding answer, then certainly remain open for divine solutions and assistance.
It is also quite simple to tell when you are putting the pressure on others. By all means ask the questions, "How am I being of service? Am I looking to fulfill my own needs, agendas or ego, or am I providing practical, useful, spiritual information to someone that requests it? In serving can I find a mindal link, a divine connection with an individual? Can I feel their emotions or perhaps understand their history?" Are they in a questioning mode? Do they desire advice from you, or are they merely looking for a listener?
The morontial senses are really quite practical and intelligence promoting. For citizens settled on Light and Life planets the morontial senses are the only means in which to solve problems by. It is only natural to them, but you are somewhat new and still learning, so be not discouraged. These senses will become natural to you also. Your continued trust and faith in Father leads you to attain a greater capacity to receive divine knowledge, yes. A few questions.
CALVIN: Abraham, this week, as you know, some of us are going to Vancouver. Any special instruction or something we need to be aware of?
ABRAHAM: One moment. I am told to tell you conference goers that it would be most wonderful to embrace on an individual level as opposed to a political level. It is acceptable to defend your cause in a peaceful manner, but not to have the attitude of "embrace us and our ways." There will be a great amount of information to take in. Look not to be so much as a messenger of the Teaching Mission, as a participant in, as a Urantia citizen, who desires good for the whole of the planet. It would do you well to remain unbiased and open, for the Spirit leads when you least expect it. You are equipped to serve where you can be at ease and continue with good humor, yes. That is all.
HARRISON: Abraham, my wife, Carol, is suffering from pain and stiffness in the joints. Is there anything that you could offer me as far as what I may say to her or how I might serve her. Is there anyway I can help her feel better, get better?
ABRAHAM: As always I stress the importance of material medical attention, but on a personal level I would ask Carol if there is some difficulties she is having that she would like to talk about. Pain in and stiffness in the joints reflect a good measure of earthly stress and/or something being suppressed. Would she have any difficulty at all she could discuss with you? In the discussion there is an opening in the mind which can receive divine solutions. There is relief from pain when there is a caring listener standing by. Remember not to put pressure on to draw her out, but to allow her to know of your availability, yes. That is all. Another question?
MIRIAM: Abraham, what you were talking about--a confusion, a cloudiness--this place I have been in lately--I was trying to describe it and I cant. Well, it feels okay, but it doesnt. I dont know if it is transition. I dont know what it is. I havent asked a question like this for a long time, but do you know what I am talking about and could you give me some guidance there or do I need to be more specific?
ABRAHAM: I can answer in this way--there is transition, yes, and yet you are feeling the reality of unrealness or falsehood. You are finding that untruthfulness to be discomforting. You so desire the truth and realness, and yet there is an underlying falsehood. I can say to you, my daughter, that if you are feeling strong emotion ask not first, "What is the proper way in which I should handle it?" Miriam, feel at ease to speak from your gut--not your heart, nor you head. Speak from your first basic thought. Do not cover over with proper procedures in mortal living. Your good intentions are honorable, and yet in a way, crushing. You need to uncover the underlying falsehood with the realness of your human emotion. Cry, be angry, be disappointed or shocked. Your divine monitor will assist in the balance of your human emotions. Worry not so much about things that look true and good. Concentrate more on the reality of your human experience. The divine balance will come later. That is all. One more question.
MIRIAM: Abraham, can I just say does my T.M.J., does my jaw misalignment and all that--is that like a physical manifestation of what you are telling me about?
ABRAHAM: Yes. (Thank you.) Physical ailments are a manifestation of things that go against your divine understanding. Yes. Another question?
CLAIREESA: Abraham, do you have any words for our brother and sister that are planning on their nuptials at the conference?
ABRAHAM: I have nothing to say other than enjoy and know that we will also be in attendance. It is wonderful when our mortal friends can gather in happiness and be rejoiceful and with gratitude. We certainly seek opportunity to attend these functions and unite as members in the extended family of God. Yes. I am as always with more love for you each week. Should there be need of assistance I would be happy to help. Remember your question. That is all. Until next week, shalom.
